Meet The Traveling Swim Instructor
Shawndreca Robinson, a traveling certified Aquatic Swim Instructor born in Buffalo, NY, has translated her lifelong passion for swimming, cultivated since the age of 3, into a mission of inclusivity and accessibility. Her vibrant personality and love for the water shine through in her classes, creating an engaging experience that motivates learners of all ages.
Having dedicated over 5 years to Aquatic Consultants Of Georgia Inc., Shawndreca identified a concerning trend: a significant portion of her community, particularly individuals from Black African-American backgrounds, were not participating in swim lessons, primarily due to financial barriers. Fueled by a commitment to break down these obstacles, she delved into research to understand the root causes.
The revelation that cost was a major deterrent sparked a transformative idea. Shawndreca envisioned bringing swim education to lower-income communities, focusing on teaching Black African Americans how to swim, and doing so at no cost. This vision evolved into the establishment of her non-profit organization, H2O Swim Dynamics. With a commitment to inclusivity, Shawndreca is now on a mission to make swimming lessons accessible to everyone, ensuring that financial constraints no longer serve as a barrier to learning this crucial life skill.

My Story
Shawndreca Robinson has established a non-profit organization called H2O Swim Dynamics, which aims to provide swim lessons to individuals facing financial barriers, particularly within the Black and African American communities in Atlanta. This initiative has the potential to bring about significant positive change in the lives of individuals and the community as a whole.
One of the primary benefits of H2O Swim Dynamics is its ability to empower individuals in lower-income communities by teaching them life-saving skills and boosting their confidence. By making these benefits accessible to a wider audience, the non-profit contributes to a healthier and more active community. Additionally, it helps reduce health disparities by promoting low-impact exercise that enhances cardiovascular health, strength, and overall well-being.
Furthermore, H2O Swim Dynamics plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of water safety in Atlanta. By making swim lessons available to all, the organization aims to decrease water-related accidents and drownings, particularly in communities where such incidents are more common. The commitment to inclusivity at H2O Swim Dynamics cultivates a sense of community and shared responsibility, breaking down social barriers, promoting understanding, and creating a more cohesive city.
Beyond the immediate benefits of swimming skills, H2O Swim Dynamics can also create valuable educational opportunities. The organization may inspire individuals to pursue career paths in aquatics or coaching and could spark interest in related fields such as health and wellness. This contributes to the overall educational and economic development of the community.
In summary, H2O Swim Dynamics can catalyze positive change in Atlanta by addressing the root causes of limited access to swim lessons. It not only equips individuals with essential life skills but also fosters community empowerment, improves health outcomes, and promotes a more inclusive and connected city.
Family History & Childhood Memories
Shawndreca's journey as a skilled swim instructor and aquatic fitness teacher has deep roots in the guidance and mentorship of her grandmother. It was her grandmother who, with patience and love, imparted the foundational swimming skills that set Shawndreca on her aquatic path. The intimate bond formed in those early lessons not only cultivated a strong swimmer but laid the foundation for a lifelong passion.
Shawndreca's grandmother not only taught her the physical aspects of swimming but instilled in her a profound appreciation for the water – a love that transcends the mere strokes and dives. This connection, forged in the waters of understanding and encouragement, has been a driving force in Shawndreca's commitment to making swimming accessible to all.
The non-profit, H2O Swim Dynamics, is a testament to the enduring impact of her grandmother's teachings. It reflects a desire to share the transformative power of swimming with others, breaking down barriers so that everyone, regardless of financial circumstances, can experience the joy and safety that comes from being confident in the water.
In essence, Shawndreca's journey is not just about becoming a skilled swimmer and instructor; it's a story of generational influence, where the wisdom and care of her grandmother continue to resonate in every splash, kick, and lesson. Without her grandmother's guidance, Shawndreca acknowledges that she wouldn't be the accomplished swimmer and advocate for aquatic education that she is today.
